The endless diatribe from so many sources about the coming armageddon, brought on by mankind’s enrichment of the atmosphere with CO² has always left me cold! The notion of empirical science, went out of the window when we were told of the “consensus” of climate scientists. No matter what blunders they made, like the disclosure of megabytes of emails showing the players concealing data and obfuscating anything that might have shown that CO² was not the culprit. Even the fact that global warming has stopped this last decade, despite the increase in carbon dioxide, nothing has deterred the endless preaching of doom, and to boot we all have to pay through increased taxation. Serious increases they are too, such that many people fear the coming winter cold, as they will not be able to pay the utility costs.
Living at Parlington, as I did for most of the previous decade, I can attest to the fact that old large Georgian and Victorian buildings can be merciless during the winter, many a winter’s morning the ice on the inside of the old sash windows was so thick that you needed a hairdryer to warm out a hole sufficient to look through! You could scratch your initials in the frost and only when the sun got onto the elevation would the ice disappear.
So talking about the sun, which is the major player in heating the planet, the lesser partner being heat from the interior, via volcanic eruptions, and general ground heat, and when I say lesser, it is a bit part compared to the sun. We have to endure the nonsense of long wave back radiation returning from the atmosphere to re-heat the planet. I think we have a case of over unity. A concept that most engineers would find laughable. Anyway whatever your point of view, and there are many on this subject.
THE SCIENCE IS NOT SETTLED, climate changes always has, always will!
But if you are in any doubt, I suggest reading the articles to be found at Principia Scientific and in particular do read the latest from astrophysicist Joe Postma, his detailed analysis and comprehensive debunking of the, “Greenhouse Gas Blanket Theory”, is a joy to read. Areas not oft mentioned by climatologists, such as the lapse rate in a column of air, the proper understanding of the Second Law of Thermodynamics, and the part that latent heat plays in the whole caboodle, make the toytown stuff trotted out by the BBC and loss making Guardian, seem ever more ridiculous. I recall a programme some years ago on the BBC where a physicist conducted the most appalling corruption of science by heating carbon dioxide in a jar alongside a similar jar containing only the air, as found in the present atmosphere, to purportedly show how the heat was retained in the said jar containing the enriched CO² A travesty of empirical science, but readily advocated by the propagandist BBC.
When you are being preached at by the religious dogmatists of the cult of Man Made Global Warming, do not be fooled by the not so subtle use of numbers to make a point, for example we hear about Giga tonnes of CO² being put into the atmosphere annually, which sound horrendous, this alarming fact is usually accompanied with pictures of chimneys belching out grey/black smoke… CO² is invisible and as a percentage of the atmosphere is less than 400 parts per million by volume, rightly termed a trace gas! How much of that CO² is caused by mankind and our industrial activities, roughly 4%, so 4% of 0.04%.
To conclude, it seems to me that there are many things wrong with the current theory of anthropogenic global warming, the research done by the likes of Joe Postma and others will I hope start to turn the clock back to a time when scientific enquiry was the norm not focus group think of green zealots.
