eBay Irritations, am I being Gazumpted? [Rant]

A recent eBay auction for a postcard of Parlington Hall circa 1941 went beyond my budget and I was disappointed to miss the card, however I made some enquiries and did manage to obtain a reasonable digital version; frankly this is all I need to do analysis and set out the conclusions in future articles, the actual card is not required. But we seem to be going in the same direction again with a postcard presently on eBay which is from the post WW2 period. The same image turned up some years ago as part of a five way postcard, but as used in that way was cropped and therefore only revealed aspects of the Hall itself, missing a large Cedar and some details in the gardens which can be seen in the individual preview of the postcard presently taking bids. Preview picture, below.

At the time of writing this post the card is at £13.35, if I bid any further it is likely to go as the earlier card to over £30.00, which is a lot of dosh for such an item. Or am I out of date, not realising that my research on Parlington has so raised the profile that I now have to pay many times more than I did some eight or nine years ago when I started my quest! If you read this post and you are bidding for the item, or you are the person that won the earlier card I mentioned, please get in touch, we can come to some accommodation, and avoid spending our hard earned money on postcards, which by any measure should be valued at no more than £12.00 in my humble opinion!

  1. I was gazumped again, but this time I secured a second copy of the postcard for somewhat less than the price on ebay! Perseverance pays you might say!
